about

Featuring Jeff Cooper on bass, Andy Barr / Jeff Cooper on
piano, Ben Crockford on drums, Bex Rennie on cello and
Dani Richardson on violin, this brutal yet beautiful song will
make you tremble. The track fiercely expresses that
heartbreaking moment of ‘it’s not you it’s me’. The motion
of spiralling thoughts and emotions are reinforced by an
orchestra of strings and aggressive drums. The strings and
piano carries the feeling of pulsing tension whilst gradually
rising to a powerful crescendo.

Justina has captured the hearts of fans with her unique
blend of her melodic indie, pastoral, neo-folk and chamber
pop style. ‘Under My Skin’ stands out from her other tracks
with a more heavy rock feel. All the while, her provoking
lyrics, along with the piano and orchestral accompaniment
beautifully creates a sense of vulnerability and heartache
when loosing the one you love.

Under My Skin

By Justina Ward

Verse 1

So you’re coming over Monday
It’s nice of you in some way
Hold it you can’t tell me that it’s over
Stop it I was nothing but a lover
Shut it please don’t tell me how you feel
Fuck it I’m done
I won’t be that someone
It’s time to take the wheel

Pre-Chorus

What hurts the most about this
You were the man I fell in love with
Who thought I’d fall so fast
I thought that this would last

Chorus

You’re still under my skin
Though you never let me in
I took the time to know you
But you didn’t seem to want too
Give me a chance
Let's try again
But what’s the point in fighting for when you don't want it anymore
You wanna talk
So walk the walk
Show me why I'm perfect and you’re just not good for me at all

Verse 2

Following your footsteps it don’t make sense
Something’s changed so quickly that you're past tense (You are, you were)
Hold it you can’t tell me that it’s over
Stop it I was nothing but a lover

Pre-Chorus

What hurts the most about this
You were the man I fell in love with
Who thought I’d fall so fast
I thought that this would last

Chorus

You’re still under my skin
Though you never let me in
I took the time to know you
But you didn’t seem to want too
Give me a chance
Let's try again
But what’s the point in fighting for when you don't want it anymore
You wanna talk
So walk the walk
Show me why I'm perfect and you’re just not good for me at all

For me at all
For me at all

Bridge

You let me go
But I want to know

Because I can’t seem to understand
You’re instigating kind of man
You’re the one who made the plans
But somehow I get the back hand
It’s terrifying that you’re lying to me babe
Just say you’re done
It was just for fun
And you never told your parents
And you never told your friends
You led me on for nothing
You just want to get between my legs

Chorus

You’re still under my skin
Though you never let me in
I took the time to know you
But you didn’t seem to want too
Give me a chance
Let's try again
But what’s the point in fighting for when you don't want it anymore
You wanna talk
So walk the walk
Show me why I'm perfect and you’re just not good for me at all

Show me why I'm perfect and you’re just not good for me at all
So walk the walk
You wanna talk
But what’s the point in fighting for when you don't want it anymore
Let's try again
Give me a chance
But you didn’t seem to want too
I took the time to know you
Though you never let me in
You’re still under my skin
